I’m Annette Expat and Intercultural Communication Consulting I was just 11 years old when my father was transferred from our native country of the Netherlands to the U.S. I then experienced three wonderful and life-changing years with my parents and my sisters, our dog and guinea pig, in beautiful Virginia. Because I was young, I adapted quickly and Virginia soon felt like home. It wasn’t until we moved back to the Netherlands that I was struck by and became insterested in the vast cultural differences. Since then, I have lived, worked and studied in France, Sweden, and now, the New York metropolitan area. With each move, my fascination with different ways of life grew and I found that I enjoyed navigating these differences, for myself and then for others. It is wonderful to assist expat families to thrive in their new environments, smoothing the path through American bureaucracy for them, finding the right school for their children, and helping spouses make the most of new opportunities. I provide a single point of contact for what is often delivered through several people or agencies, offering settling-in services, spouse coaching, and intercultural communication training. I develop the high level of trust with my clients that is necessary for these services to have the greatest impact and to be successful. My goal is to help the foreign feel familiar for businesses expanding in the US and expats moving to the US, thus helping companies protect the expensive investment of venturing abroad. As an ACC certified coach, I hold a Msc in Management and Organization from the University of Groningen, with course certificates from the University of Stockholm and Aix-Marseille Graduate school of Management.
