Families Thriving in the US

Moving to a new country is a daunting and exciting prospect. One of the hardest aspects of moving abroad is adjusting to a new culture.  DutchAmericanConnection helps families develop skills and understanding for a successful cultural integration.

With 40% of expat assignments resulting in a costly early repatriation because the family fails to thrive, this program is a small investment to secure the high-priced investment in the employee’s professional and personal development.

This workshop will:

  • Set expectations on life in the US

  • Familiarize families with American culture

  • Identify the family’s own values and communication styles and compare these to the American values and communication styles

  • Help families understand the various stages of cultural adaptation

  • Create strategies to deal with cultural adaptation

  • Provide practical advice on living in the US, the education system, and how to navigate American bureaucracy (SSN, bank account, credit cards, drivers license, etc)
