Differences in Diversity - comparing DEI in the US and the Netherlands

As a country of immigrants with a long history of racial tensions, it can be said that DEI - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - policies in the US have come a long way compared to the Netherlands.

Whenever I discuss DEI with Dutch companies, the conversation almost always turns to increasing the number of women in management positions. But DEI is so much more than the ratio of males and females in leadership positions. DEI is about a host of other differences: neurotypical, cultural, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, age, religious commitment, political perspective, the list goes on and on. And it doesn't just apply to management.

Director of DEI Paula Robinson takes a deep dive into what DEI is, why it is important and how it can be turned into a competitive advantage. Discover what the Dutch can and should learn from American DEI policies!
